Human hair wigs are gaining popularity because they look authentic and closely resemble natural hair. By choosing the right type, you can find a wig that matches your natural hair. However, sometimes finding the exact color can be challenging.
Coloring Wigs
While it is possible to color different types of wigs, natural human hair wigs are the easiest to dye. This is because they can be treated just like your natural hair. Be cautious when dyeing cheaply made wigs that are not woven, as some use glue to attach the hair to the cap. Dye can weaken the glue, making these wigs unsuitable for coloring.
Washing the Wig
Before dyeing, wash the wig with shampoo and let it dry completely. Once dry, comb the wig to remove any tangles.
Mixing the Color
Purchase a regular at-home coloring kit and mix the components according to the instructions. Section the hair with a comb and apply the dye as you normally would. Typically, this involves leaving the dye on for about 25 minutes, then rinsing it out and applying a shine conditioner or shampoo.
After dyeing, allow the wig to dry completely. Once dry, you can style and wear it as usual.
